It has occurred to me, inadvertently, that many are pimping the "singles" dollar. Money spent frivolously on drinks, dates, useless pretty things, and of course the infamous monogrammed purse from (brand). I'm really afraid to state brands and trademarks these days. One could get sued for anything. Literally. But don't get me wrong, there is some cool even to this monopolization of intangibles.
For example, my best friend recently got commented on. And not in the Friendster or Facebook-status-comment way, but for real. A certain someone said that she looked single. I was so appalled at hearing this when she typed to me, that I couldn't even spell appalling on MSN. So I replied with an air of nonchalance, Yes, because that is how the world works. One is born looking either 'single' or 'attached'-looking.
My best friend got 30 points and a reminder of why she was my best friend at one of the wittiest replies I've come across in any conversation for a good while: Yeah, and some of us look complicated.
This of course was followed with a lengthy and absolutely inconsequential discussion on trademarking and copyrighting, but hey. Think about it. Someone actually OWNS "its complicated". Holy mother. I wanna freakin' own a phrase too.
The world is so unfair that way. That puts me in a bit of a funky mood right now.
